An economic delegation from the Chinese Embassy, accompanied by the President of the Lebanese Chinese Business Association, Mr. Ali Mahmoud El Abdallah, visited the Industrialists Association of Choueifat and Its Neighborhood.
The Chinese delegation included the Economic Counselor at the Chinese Embassy, Ms. Li Jing, Secretary of the Economic and Commercial Section, Mr. Wang Gang, and Officer at the Economic and Commercial Section, Ms. Hu Qi Qi.
The delegation was received at the Industrialists Association of Choueifat headquarters by the Association’s President Joe Boustani, Vice President Youssef Sultan, Secretary general Tarek Abou Chakra, and Board Member Suzanne Arakji.
After the visit to the Association’s center, the delegation toured a number of companies in the area, where they were welcomed by CEO of Pain Dor and Fantazia, Mr. Marwan El Koussa, Chairman of Sultan Steel, Mr. Youssef Sultan, and CEO of Koubar, Mr. Alaa Chdid.
Commenting on the visit of the Chinese delegation to the Industrialists Association of Choueifat and their tour of factories and companies, Ali Mahmoud El Abdallah, President of the Lebanese Chinese Business Association, said:
“The true strength of people, societies, and nations is revealed in times of crisis and this reflects the nature of our relations with China, as well as the resilience shown by the Industrialists Association of Choueifat during Lebanon’s economic collapse. The Association has demonstrated the exceptional capacity of Lebanese industrialists, especially amid the economic breakdown and turmoil since 2019. They managed to break through the barriers of crisis, maintaining their presence in traditional markets and even expanding into new global ones. That is why I always say that any economic solution aiming to lift the country out of collapse must take into consideration the voice of industrialists and draw inspiration from their success, strength, and perseverance.”
He added:
“On another level, regarding Lebanese–Chinese relations, I can say based on my long and deep relations with China and its Embassy in Lebanon that China is a friendly nation that respects and values our country. It understands our circumstances and challenges and constantly calls for dialogue and consensus among all political forces in Lebanon.
China’s approach to the Lebanese situation is rooted in its policy of respecting the sovereignty and legitimate rights of nations, which defines its global diplomacy always promoting cooperation and openness on the international stage.
When it comes to Lebanese industry, China makes great efforts to support the sector, as it does with other fields. The Lebanese industrial sector can greatly benefit from the Belt and Road Initiative, as it connects the Lebanese market to regional and global markets. Moreover, China and Lebanon signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2017 aimed at promoting joint cooperation within the framework of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Initiative.
China has repeatedly expressed its willingness to establish productive projects in Lebanon and has never hesitated to support our country providing vaccines and medical supplies during the COVID-19 crisis, participating in UN peacekeeping forces in South Lebanon, and taking part in international conferences held to support Lebanon after the Beirut Port explosion.
This visit by the Chinese delegation to the Industrialists Association of Choueifat is yet another expression of China’s genuine will to strengthen cooperation with various economic, social, educational, and cultural sectors in Lebanon.”
