Sidon, January 11, 2023
The Economic Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Lebanon, Li Jing, stated that China welcomes Lebanese businesspeople, affirming that the embassy is ready to facilitate the work of traders, industrialists, and all entrepreneurs, and to cooperate in increasing the volume of trade between the two countries.
During a visit to a number of Sidon’s economic and commercial figures at the invitation of the President of the Lebanese Chinese Business Association, Mr. Ali Mahmoud El Abdallah Counselor Li Jing emphasized that China is always open to cooperation and that its doors remain open to support joint economic relations with Lebanon. The visit was headed by Li Jing, accompanied by a diplomatic delegation that included several embassy staff members.
Mr. Saleh added:
"These relations have witnessed growth and development thanks to the signing of the Trade and Economic Agreement between the two countries in 1955 to strengthen commercial and economic cooperation. Lebanon’s commercial position has played a key role in these relations, as it serves as a link between East and West, making it a hub for re-exporting Chinese products abroad particularly to African countries, where Lebanese businessmen, both residents and expatriates, are economically active. Moreover, Lebanese entrepreneurs, especially those from the South, conduct trade deals with China through Lebanon, with goods shipped directly to Africa."
He concluded by saying:
"At the Chamber of Commerce in Sidon and the South, we make the most of every visit and meeting with our Chinese friends to explore ways to increase trade exchange between our two countries and to identify investment and partnership opportunities across agricultural, commercial, industrial, and tourism sectors. We are also keen to cooperate with the Chinese Embassy and the Lebanese Chinese Business Association in everything that serves the interests of Chinese and southern Lebanese business communities."
