Hassan Al Ali, and Municipal Council Member Mr. Abdallah Ghieh.
The meeting, held at the Chinese Embassy in Beirut, was also attended by the Economic and Commercial Counselor, Ms. Zhang Fengling, and several embassy officials.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Wang Kejian welcomed the delegation from Tekrit and expressed China’s strong interest in strengthening its relations with Lebanon at all levels.
He praised the human and natural potential of the Akkar region, noting that its combination of mountainous and coastal areas provides a solid foundation for achieving long-term sustainable development and for transforming it into a distinct economic hub.
He also emphasized the importance of developing regions outside the capital, such as Akkar and other rural areas, and congratulated the Municipality of Tekrit for its efforts toward local development, reaffirming the embassy’s interest in Tekrit and other Lebanese towns and cities.

For his part, Mr. Ali Mahmoud El Abdallah stated:

“Lebanese-Chinese relations date back to the early 20th century. Over the years, these relations have been characterized by cooperation on the political, economic, social, and cultural levels.
Through our close ties with the Chinese Embassy in Lebanon, we have witnessed many initiatives undertaken by the embassy both past and present to strengthen its relations across Lebanese regions.
It is evident that the embassy, under the leadership of Ambassador Wang Kejian, continues to build deep connections across all sectors in Lebanon. We greatly value these efforts and look forward to reinforcing our shared relations for the benefit of both China and Lebanon.”

He added:

“The embassy has also succeeded in strengthening its cooperation with a number of Lebanese towns and cities, including Tekrit.”

Mr. Al Abdallah thanked the ambassador for inviting the Tekrit Municipality to participate in the Seminar and Training Program on Urban Planning and Construction for Arab Cities 2017, to be held at the College of Business Administration in Shanghai during the current month of August.

In his remarks, Mayor Dr. Hatem Al Ali thanked Ambassador Wang Kejian for supporting the Akkar region, which has long suffered from a lack of balanced development.
He noted that the people of Akkar have always offered their best sons in defense of Lebanon’s independence, sovereignty, and unity, and emphasized the importance of Tekrit’s participation in the upcoming Seminar and Training Program on Urban Planning and Construction for Arab Cities 2017.

He added:

“We sincerely thank the Chinese government for its kind attention and for selecting Akkar and Tekrit to take part in this urban planning and development program. This recognition places them on par with major Arab cities and has a positive impact on both development and economic levels.”
